Com uma trajetória marcada por lançamentos em gravadoras renomadas como Defected, Toolroom, Club Sweat e muitas outras, eles conquistaram um reconhecimento global de maneira rápida e surpreendente, principalmente por conta do lançamento de “Beat of the Drum“, em 2013, que chegou a alcançar o Top #1 no chart de House do Beatport. Desde então, a música deles nunca mais passou despercebida e começou a ser tocada de forma recorrente por grandes nomes como Claptone e Roger Sanchez, por exemplo.
Com produções enérgicas, emotivas, e que se destacam por trazer uma sonoridade bem fresh dentro do House, eles seguem indo mais longe, tanto que recentemente voltaram à Adesso Music, selo comandado por Junior Jack, com um remix para “Can You See“, de Massimo Conte, depois de já terem lançado em fevereiro deste ano a faixa “Fazer“, que contou até com o vocal de uma MC brasileira, Negra Nelly. Com todo esse contexto, ficamos curiosos para explorar mais detalhes da jornada de Alaia e Gallo desde lá de trás até o momento atual, sem deixar de perguntar também sobre a evolução do House e o que eles fazem para se manter sempre à frente nessa indústria tão competitiva. Olá, Alaia & Gallo. Obrigado por nos atenderem. Lemos na biografia de vocês sobre o primeiro sucesso “Beat of the Drum”, de 2013, faixa que lhes rendeu top 1 no Beatport e o começo do reconhecimento internacional. Podem nos contar um pouco mais sobre o início da trajetória e como esse release impulsionou o nome de vocês na cena?
No início, era muito difícil sermos notados. Toda vez que enviávamos uma demo para uma gravadora, simplesmente esperávamos ser ouvidos pelos A&Rs, mas isso dificilmente acontecia. Então, decidimos participar do Amsterdam Dance Event anual para criar novos contatos. Foi assim que assinamos nossos primeiros discos. “Beat Of The Drum” definitivamente nos colocou no mapa e nos deu novas oportunidades!
Inclusive, revisitando o catálogo de vocês, notamos que conseguiram espaço em muitas grandes gravadoras nos primeiros anos de trajetória… No ano de 2015 e 2016, por exemplo, vocês lançaram pela RH2 várias vezes, Defected, Glasgow Underground, e ganharam um remix até de Claptone. Na visão de vocês, o que ajudou a alcançar esse reconhecimento tão cedo, que talvez possa servir como uma dica/incentivo para os novos produtores?
Basicamente, tentamos aprimorar nossas habilidades de produção, combinando-as com nossas ideias. A qualidade e a originalidade de suas faixas são realmente muito importantes em um mundo onde tudo parece soar igual. Na nossa opinião, desenvolver seu próprio som é a única maneira de se destacar entre milhares de produtores.
Ok, chega de falar do passado, vamos voltar para o presente e conversar sobre o seu novo remix, “Can You See”, para Massimo Conte, através da Adesso Music. A faixa original já era um House bem vibrante, mas vocês conseguiram deixá-la mais “freaky”. Como foi produzir esse remix?
Tentamos dar uma nova roupagem a essa faixa: como o original é mais “housey”, decidimos usar apenas alguns trechos do vocal para movê-la em um arranjo de tech house puro, mais voltado para os clubes.
Aliás, não é a primeira vez de vocês no catálogo da Adesso Music. Em fevereiro vocês lançaram “Fazer”, com a voz da carioca MC Negra Nelly… estamos curiosos para saber como isso aconteceu. A letra em português tem um teor mais explícito. Vocês estavam cientes do conteúdo da letra quando a escolheram? E de que forma isso influenciou a produção da música?
Honestamente, não sabemos uma única palavra em português. Ouvimos uma demo da faixa feita pelos caras do NoTwins (co-produtores da faixa) e a adoramos na hora. Refizemos a bateria e a linha de baixo sem nos preocuparmos com a letra. Somente quando a faixa estava para ser lançada, percebemos o que o vocalista estava falando na letra.
Agora saindo um pouco da produção musical, gostaríamos de entender em que momento da carreira vocês estão atualmente. Recentemente vocês fizeram alguns shows que passaram pela Croácia, Itália… como tem sido o ano de 2024 até aqui e o que estão buscando no momento e para o futuro?
Acreditamos que estamos em um momento decisivo de nossa carreira: depois de alguns bons anos de shows em todo o mundo, nos próximos meses voltaremos à vida de estúdio para trabalhar em novas produções que poderão nos dar um novo impulso na indústria da dance music. O ano de 2024 foi marcado por vários experimentos em outros gêneros (como o afro house), mas, depois de algum tempo, decidimos não mudar mais nossa natureza e permanecer em nossas raízes: house e tech house!
Falando da cena eletrônica em geral, como vocês enxergam as mudanças no House nos últimos anos? Vocês acreditam que o gênero está indo para algum lugar específico em termos de sonoridade? A popularidade do Tech House mundialmente ajuda ou atrapalha?
Depois de alguns anos dominados pelo afro house, achamos que agora o setor está voltando para a house music. Embora o tech house esteja sempre dominando, as pessoas nos clubs adoram cantar e dançar ao som de house!
E o que vocês buscam como diferencial para se destacar no meio de tantos produtores que surgem dia após dia? Como manter a relevância em um mercado onde a disputa por espaço e reconhecimento é cada vez maior?
Como dissemos antes, tente ser sempre original e desenvolva seu próprio som! Nunca tente copiar outra pessoa… Você pode “usar” outros produtores como inspiração, mas se tentar fazer as coisas soando como outras 10.000 faixas no mercado, você nunca crescerá e se destacará das massas!

Alaia & Gallo is an Italian duo that, above all, respects and keeps its roots firmly connected to House Music. With a career marked by releases on renowned labels such as Defected, Toolroom, Club Sweat and many others, they quickly and surprisingly achieved global recognition, mainly thanks to the release of “Beat of the Drum” in 2013, which reached the Top #1 on Beatport’s House chart. Since then, their music has never gone unnoticed and has started to be played repeatedly by big names like Claptone and Roger Sanchez, for example.
With energetic, emotive productions that stand out for their fresh house sound, they continue to go further, so much so that they recently returned to Adesso Music, the label run by Junior Jack, with a remix of Massimo Conte‘s “Can You See“, after having already released the track “Fazer” in February this year, which even featured the vocals of a Brazilian MC, Negra Nelly. With all this context, we were curious to explore more details of Alaia and Gallo’s journey from back in the day to the present day, without forgetting to ask about the evolution of House and what they do to stay ahead in this very competitive industry. Hello, Alaia & Gallo. Thank you for taking the time to talk to us. We read in your biography about your first hit “Beat of the Drum”, from 2013, a track that earned you top 1 on Beatport and the start of your international recognition. Can you tell us a bit more about the beginning of your career and how this release boosted your name in the scene?
At the beginning it was really hard for us to be noticed. Every time we submitted a demo to a label we simply hoped to have a play from A&Rs, but it hardly happened. So we decided to attend the annual Amsterdam Dance Event to create new connections. That’s how we signed our first records. “Beat Of The Drum” definitely put us on the map and gave us new opportunities!
In fact, revisiting your catalog, we noticed that you got space on many major labels in the first years of your career… In 2015 and 2016, for example, you released on RH2 several times, Defected, Glasgow Underground, and even got a remix from Claptone. In your view, what helped you achieve this recognition so early on, which could perhaps serve as a tip/encouragement for new producers?
Basically we tried to improve our production skills, combining them with our ideas. The quality and the originality of your tracks is really really important in a world where everything seems to sound the same. In our opinion, developing your own sound it’s the only way to stand up among thousands of producers.
Okay, enough about the past, let’s get back to the present and talk about your new remix, “Can You See”, for Massimo Conte, through Adesso Music. The original track was already very vibrant house, but you managed to make it more freaky. What was it like producing this remix?
We tried to give a new dress to this track: since the original is more “housey” we decided to use only some bits of the vocal to move it in a pure tech house arrangement, more oriented to the clubs.
By the way, this isn’t your first time in the Adesso Music catalog. In February you released “Fazer”, featuring MC Negra Nelly from Rio de Janeiro… we’re curious to know how that happened. The lyrics in Portuguese are more explicit. Were you aware of the content of the lyrics when you chose them? And how did this influence the production of the song?
Honestly we don’t know a single word of Portuguese. We heard a demo of the track by the NoTwins guys (co-producers of the track) and we instantly loved it. We reworked the drums and the bassline without worrying about the lyrics. Only when the track was going to be released, we realized what the vocalist was talking about in the lyrics lol
Now that we’ve moved on from the production of the music, we’d like to understand what stage you’re currently at in your career. You recently played some shows in Croatia, Italy… how has 2024 been so far and what are you looking for at the moment and in the future?
We think that we are at a turning point of our career: after some good years of gigs all around the world, in the next months we will come back to studio life to work on new productions that could give us a new boost in the dance music industry. 2024 has seen for us several experiments in other genres (such as afro house), but, after some time, we decided to not change our nature any more and remain into our roots: house and tech house!
Speaking of the electronic scene in general, how do you see the changes in house in recent years? Do you think the genre is heading somewhere specific in terms of sound? Does the popularity of Tech House worldwide help or hinder?
After a couple of years dominated by afro house, we think that now the industry is moving back to house music. Even though tech house is always dominating, people in the club love to sing and dance to house vibes!
And what do you look for as a differentiator to stand out among so many producers who are popping up day after day? How do you stay relevant in a market where the competition for space and recognition is growing?
As we said before, try to always be original and develop your own sound! Never try to copy someone else… You can “use” other producers as inspiration, but if you try to do things sounding like other 10.000 tracks in the market you will never grow up and stand up from the masses!

Honestly we don’t love to spoil upcoming stuff: we’re Italian and, you know, Italians are really superstitious lol. Just some little news: in November we’ll have a new EP released on Cavo Paradiso label (yes, the famous Mykonos club) and, please, don’t miss it… We’re really proud of it! After that we’ll have our new single released on a really famous label and, last but not least, we’re working on a cover of one of the greatest voices of all time!
