O selo desdobrou um catálogo vibrante, repleto de lançamentos que capturaram a atenção dos grandes players globais, com apoio significativo da BBC Radio 1 e faixas que incendiaram as pistas dos principais festivais, consolidando a gravadora como uma das líderes do momento.
O Tech House e as demais nuances dos grooves dançantes e contemplativos, sintetizam a direção sonora que a Adesso vem apresentando ao longo desses cinco anos de atividade. Comandada por Junior Jack e Pat BDS, o selo se tornou um reduto de criações musicais que se tornaram tendência dentro do estilo, fugindo o óbvio e sempre mostrando uma inclinação musical inovadora e repleta de energia.
Para comemorar essa excelente fase, a Adesso Music lançou recentemente uma compilação que reúne os lançamentos mais impactantes da temporada de 2023. Intitulada “Session 02“, a obra contempla 17 faixas que reflete o período crucial do selo, trazendo artistas de renome como CASSIMM, KeeQ e o próprio Junior Jack, juntamente com as estrelas ascendentes que brilharam nos lançamentos do ano anterior, como AndThen, Trilucid, Renew, Gavril entre outros. O lançamento antecede a segunda parte da compilação, a “Session 02: Remixes” que apresentará os remixes que foram destaque no último ano da gravadora.
Conversamos com Geoff Muncey, manager da Adesso Music, para entender mais detalhes sobre o atual momento do label e os planos futuros que já estão programados para os próximos passos da gravadora.
Como você descreveria o caminho percorrido pela Adesso Music e a evolução da gravadora nesses cinco anos de história?
A gravadora foi originalmente criada apenas para lançar novas músicas do Junior Jack e do Pat BDS. À medida que esses lançamentos apareciam nos charts e tocavam nas rádios, começamos a receber demos de outros artistas perguntando se gostaríamos de lançar suas músicas na gravadora. O primeiro deles foi o Kolombo. Gostamos muito do que nos enviaram, então começamos a lançar esses discos também, que foram crescendo e crescendo à medida que a gravadora se tornava mais popular e bem-sucedida. O Junior Jack e o Pat BDS ouvem tudo o que nos é enviado (e é muito). Eles fazem o A&R apenas com base no fato de gostarem da faixa e de ela apresentar boa produção e algum potencial. Eles não fazem A&R com base em estatísticas – quantos seguidores um artista tem, quantos outros discos o artista lançou anteriormente ou qual é o tamanho de sua presença nas mídias sociais. Tudo é feito por instinto humano e com base no mérito musical da faixa. Recebemos muitas faixas de Tech House e lançamos predominantemente no gênero, mas não estamos presos a esse ritmo. Lançamos faixas que são mais diretas de House Music ou mais Melodic/Progressive House. Se a música for boa, consideraremos lançá-la independentemente do gênero.
Vocês possuem uma percepção apurada no que diz respeito à descoberta e revelação de novos talentos dentro do catálogo. Quais artistas dessa nova geração que mais chamaram a atenção da Adesso neste último ano, e o que eles têm em comum?
Você está nos pedindo para escolher quem é o nosso filho favorito? Amamos todos os nossos novos artistas de forma igual e inquestionável. A quantidade de novos talentos é enorme. Estamos apenas arranhando a superfície. A concorrência é acirrada e muitos artistas não recebem o reconhecimento que provavelmente merecem. Mas se pudermos ajudá-los de uma pequena forma, lançando e promovendo sua arte, ficaremos felizes com nossa contribuição.
A Adesso Music acaba de lançar a compilação Session 02 e já se prepara para o lançamento de Session 02: Remixes, trazendo os destaques da temporada de 2023. Poderia nos contar mais detalhes do processo de criação da compilação e as expectativas quanto ao lançamento?
Tanto o Session 02 quanto o Session 02 Remixes funcionam como lançamentos complementares um do outro. Irmão e irmã. Eles refletem os remixes incríveis que conseguimos encomendar para a gravadora de alguns produtores/remixers/DJs incríveis, em vez das versões originais. É uma ótima maneira de nos envolvermos com remixers que admiramos. Adesso Music presents a compilation of the best tracks of the last year
The year 2023 marked a memorable chapter in Adesso Music‘s trajectory. The label unveiled a vibrant catalog, full of releases that captured the attention of major global players, with significant support from BBC Radio 1 and tracks that set the dancefloors of the main festivals on fire, consolidating the label as one of the leaders of the moment.
Tech House and the other nuances of dancey and contemplative grooves synthesize the sound direction that Adesso Music has been presenting throughout these five years of activity. Run by Junior Jack and Pat BDS, the label has become a stronghold of musical creations that become a trendsetter within the style, escaping the obvious and always showing an innovative and energetic musical slant.
To celebrate this excellent phase, Adesso Music recently released a compilation that brings together the most impactful releases of the 2023 season. Entitled “Session 02”, the work includes 17 tracks that reflect the label’s crucial period, featuring renowned artists such as CASSIMM, KeeQ and Junior Jack himself, along with the rising stars who shone in the previous year’s releases, such as AndThen, Trilucid, Renew, Gavril and others. The release comes ahead of the second part of the compilation, “Session 02: Remixes”, which will feature the remixes that were the label’s highlight of the last year.
We spoke to Geoff Muncey, General Manager of Adesso Music, to find out more about the label’s current situation and the future plans that are already planned for the label’s next steps.
How would you describe the path taken by Adesso Music and the evolution of the label in these five years of history?
The label was originally set up purely to release new music from Junior Jack and Pat BDS. As these records appeared in charts and played on the radio, we started receiving demos from other artists asking if we would like to release their music on the label. The first of these was Kolombo. We liked a lot of what we were being sent, so started releasing these records too, which just grew and grew as the label became more popular and successful. Both last year and this year we will be releasing over 50 tracks – a mixture of new music and remixes.
The label today is recognized on the world scene as a high-level catalog of the Tech House category, always with a bold and innovative touch. How does the label’s curation process work? What is the special factor that contributes to a song being included in the catalog?
Junior Jack and Pat BDS listen to everything we are sent (and it’s a lot). They A&R purely on if they like the track and it shows good production and some potential. They don’t A&R by stats – how many followers an artist has, how many other records the artist has released previously, or how big is their social media presence. It’s all done by human instinct and on the musical merit of the track. We are sent a lot of Tech House tracks and we release predominantly in the genre but we aren’t locked into this groove. We have released tracks which are more straight up House Music or more Melodic/Progressive House. If it’s good – we’ll consider releasing it regardless of genre.
You have a keen sense when it comes to discovering and revealing new talent within the catalog. Which artists of this new generation have most caught Adesso Music’s attention this past year, and what do they have in common?
Are you asking us to choose who our favorite child is? We love all our new artists equally and unequivocally. The talent pool for exciting new talent is huge. We are only scratching the surface. The competition is fierce and a great deal of artists don’t get the recognition their probably deserve. But if we can help them in a small way by releasing and promoting their art, then we are happy with our contribution.
Adesso Music has just released the Session 02 compilation and is already preparing for the release of Session 02: Remixes, featuring the highlights of the 2023 season. Could you tell us more about the process of creating the compilation and your expectations for the release?
Both Session 02 and Session 02 Remixes work as companion releases to each other. Brother and Sister. It reflects the amazing remixes we have been able to commission for the label from some incredible producers/remixers/DJs, rather than the Original versions. It’s a great way for us to get involved with remixers whom we admire. Mihalis Safras, The Deepshakerz and Band&dos are just a few of the artists who we commissioned for remixes and who enjoyed working with us, which subsequently led to us releasing Original tracks by them.
What are Adesso Music’s plans for the next few months?
We have a lot of exciting plans for 2024 and beyond. Our release schedule is already almost full for the year. Lots of great forthcoming new music. We want to look at another sister label which has a more commercial feel for tracks which maybe aren’t the right sound for Adesso Music. We are about to launch a live events division where we can showcase our artists in the live arena under the Adesso Music banner. We will most likely start in the UK but with plans for this to expand globally. We are also setting up Adesso Music Management to help guide some of the artists who need assistance in planning and strategy for releasing their music. We will also look to expand our Adesso Music Publishing team so we can be even more proactive with working our catalogue.
