Com mais de 20 anos de carreira, CJ Jeff é um daqueles artistas que acompanhou de perto as mudanças da cena, mas nunca se curvou às tendências. Afinal, como fonte de inspiração, ele tem nada mais, nada menos, que o belíssimo cenário da Grécia — inclusive, teve a oportunidade de tocar na Cerimônia de Encerramento das Olimpíadas de 2011, em Atenas.
Podemos dizer que depois disso seu nome cresceu internacionalmente, tanto que ele vem ao Brasil com certa frequência e sempre dá um show à parte quando entra em ação. No quesito de produção musical grandes selos já foram carimbados, tais como 8Bit, Objektivity e Kling Klong, e mais recentemente Circus Recordings, Saved Record, Stereo Productions e agora Sola Records, do Solardo.
É por lá que ele lançou seu mais novo single “Around”, com vocais do cantor de funk-soul-r&b, Georges Perin. É um house melódico e profundo que difere um pouco de suas produções mais tradicionais, mas que de fato tem uma energia bastante única que vem sendo absorvida muito bem pelo público na pista. Olá, Nikos! Obrigado por nos receber. Você acabou de estrear na Sola com um lançamento muito sólido. Nos conte primeiramente como surgiu esse convite? Você é um cara próximo de Mark e James? Como é o seu relacionamento com eles?
Sim, Solardo é uma família, tocamos juntos algumas vezes ao redor do mundo e posso dizer que, desde a primeira vez, eles tiveram uma conexão. Adoro os djs que ainda são clubbers. Eles mantêm as coisas reais.
E como surgiram os vocais de Georges Perin? Achamos que o tom vocal encaixou perfeitamente com a profundidade instrumental da música… fazer algo mais melódico e emotivo era sua ideia inicial?
Georges é um artista incrível, um cantor de soul e funk. E enquanto trabalhamos no passado, ele está sempre compartilhando a visão de uma ideia de faixa. Somos bons amigos agora e acredito que isso facilita as coisas. Antes de iniciar o processo, conversamos bastante sobre a direção e, ao mesmo tempo, fazemos alguns “testes vocais”
Então ele sempre volta para mim com mais! Incrível!
Ainda sobre lançamentos, notamos que você não é um artista que lança com muita frequência. Como é a sua rotina no estúdio? Você possui um lugar fixo em casa com alguns equipamentos?
Acredito que posso lançar uma faixa por semana rs. Mas quero manter distância e promover cada trabalho tanto quanto ele merece. Menos e maiores faixas, esse é o meu humor no momento. Todas serão vocais.
Nos últimos anos você apareceu nos catálogos de grandes labels como Toolroom, Saved, Circus, Bunny Tiger, Spinnin Deep e agora Sola… onde mais você almeja colocar sua música?
Ainda faltam algumas metas a serem atingidas e eu posso dizer que estou quase lá. Ao mesmo tempo, estou agradecido e me sinto abençoado porque todos os selos que lancei antes estavam e, ainda estão, na minha lista de melhores como DJ e produtor.
E como estão as coisas com a Rhythmetic? Desde 2020 há apenas um lançamento por ano. Você tem planos de aumentar a periodicidade de lançamentos do seu próprio selo?
há um plano para o próximo ano para um grande retorno. Se preparem!
Você como um artista com mais de 20 anos de carreira presenciou diferentes momentos da cena eletrônica, certo? Como você enxerga o futuro dos próximos anos? Que direcionamento musical a música eletrônica está tomando, na sua opinião?
Para ser honesto, no momento há algumas faixas excelentes, mas não há grandes artistas, se é que você me entende. Esperamos ver mais jovens talentos assumindo o controle da cena em um futuro próximo.
Falando especificamente sobre a Grécia, seu país de origem. Como foi construir sua carreira neste país? Além dos famosos beach clubs, o que de mais interessante a Grécia tem a oferecer em termos de música que você poderia nos recomendar?
A Grécia tem a oferecer um público incrível que adora se envolver, acredito que seja semelhante aos clubbers brasileiros. Eles sentem isso.
Em 2020 idealizou a festa Caravan Serai. Pode nos contar um pouco mais sobre a ideia dessa label e se há um panorama de realizar novos eventos?
Esse é um projeto que nasceu com meu parceiro Gonzalo e meu gerente anterior, Andrew, e tem tudo a ver com manter a realidade e voltar às raízes da house music. E sim, há um plano para 2024 para uma série de grandes festas.
Você é um artista que vem com uma boa frequência ao Brasil, principalmente ao D-Edge. Imagino que seja um país que você adore tocar. Como foram suas experiências por aqui e quando será seu retorno? Obrigado, Nikos!
A D.Edge é a minha casa no Brasil, Renato Ratier e Diogo Accioly são a minha família, tantos momentos incríveis. Estarei de volta em fevereiro no D.Edge, desta vez em São Paulo e no D.Edge Rio e também no Surreal Park, realmente mal posso esperar.

GRVE | We interviewed CJ Jeff after his debut at Solardo’s Sola
We took the opportunity to find out when the artist will return to Brazil
With a career of over 20 years, CJ Jeff is one of those artists who has closely followed the changes in the scene, but has never bowed to trends. After all, as a source of inspiration, he has nothing less than the beautiful scenery of Greece – he even had the opportunity to play at the Closing Ceremony of the 2011 Olympics in Athens.
We can say that since then his name has grown internationally, so much so that he comes to Brazil quite often and always puts on a show when he’s in action. In terms of music production, major labels have already signed him up, such as 8Bit, Objektivity and Kling Klong, and more recently Circus Recordings, Saved Record, Stereo Productions and now Solardo‘s Sola Records.
It’s there that he released his newest single “Around”, with vocals by funk-soul-r&b singer Georges Perin. It’s deep, melodic house that differs a little from his more traditional productions, but it does have a unique energy that has been absorbed very well by the crowd on the dancefloor. GRVE: Hello, Nikos! Thanks for having us. You’ve just made your Sola debut with a very solid release. Tell us first how this invitation came about? Are you close to Mark and James? How is your relationship with them?
CJ Jeff: Yes Solardo is family, we play together couple of times. Around the world and I can say from the first time they where. A Connection. Love the djs that they are still clubbers. They keep it real.
GRVE: And how did Georges Perin’s vocals come about? We thought the vocal tone fitted perfectly with the instrumental depth of the song… was doing something more melodic and emotive your initial idea?
CJ Jeff: Georges is an amazing artist, a soul and funk singer. And as we work at the past before he is always sharing the vision Of a track idea. We are good friends now and I believe makes Things easier. Before starting the process we do a big talk about the direction and at the same time do some “vocal test” Then he is always coming back to me with more! Amazing
GRVE: Still on the subject of releases, we’ve noticed that you’re not an artist who releases very often. What’s your routine like in the studio? Do you have a fixed place at home with some equipment?
CJ Jeff: Believe I can release a track per week lol But I want to keep distance and promote every work as much It deserves. Less and bigger tracks that’s my mood at the moment. All will be vocal ones.
GRVE: In recent years you’ve appeared in the catalogs of major labels such as Toolroom, Saved, Circus, Bunny Tiger, Spinnin Deep and now Sola… where else do you aim to put your music?
CJ Jeff: There are couple goals more to achieve and I Can tell you I am almost there. At the same time I am thankful And feeling blessed cause all the labels i released before was ans Still are to my top list like a dj and producer.
GRVE: And how are things with Rhythmetic? Since 2020 there’s only been one release a year. Do you have any plans to increase the frequency of releases on your own label?
CJ Jeff: There is a plan for next year for a big come back. Hold your horses
GRVE: As an artist with a career of more than 20 years, you’ve witnessed different moments in the electronic scene, right? How do you see the future of the next few years? What musical direction is electronic music taking, in your opinion?
CJ Jeff: to be honest at the moment there are some great tracks. But not some great artists if you know what I mean. Hopefully will see more young talents taking over the scene in the near future.
GRVE: Speaking specifically about Greece, your country of origin. What was it like building your career in this country? Apart from the famous beach clubs, what else does Greece have to offer in terms of music that you could recommend?
CJ Jeff: Greece has to offer amazing crowd that loves to be involved, I believe is similar to Brazilian clubbers. They feel it.
GRVE: In 2020 you created the Caravan Serai party. Can you tell us a bit more about the idea behind this label and if there are any plans for new events?
CJ Jeff: That’s a project came in life with my partner Gonzalo and My previous Mananger Andrew, it’s all about keep it real and Going back to roots of house music. And yes there is a plan for 2024 for big parties series.
GRVE: You’re an artist who comes to Brazil quite often, especially to D-Edge. I imagine it’s a country you love to play in. How were your experiences here and when will you return? Thanks, Nikos!
CJ Jeff: D.Edge is my Brazilian home, Reanato Ratier And Diogo Accioly it’s my family, so many great moments I ll be back in February at D.edge this time São Paulo and D.Edge Rio and also Surreal Park, really can’t wait.
