Em um espaço amadeirado, repleto de discos e sintetizadores, surgia em 2005, em Berlin, a Innervisions, uma das mais aclamadas labels de música eletrônica underground até os dias de hoje. Criação de Steffen Berkhahn (Dixon) junto de Kristian Rädle e Frank Wiedemann (Âme), o nome foi escolhido pela crença de que “todas as formas de arte, não apenas a música, são uma esfera materializada de ideias que aciona certas sensações e sensibilidades”, ou seja, mais do que apenas lançar músicas, o selo poderia ser chamado de galeria de arte, onde artistas podem expressar seu lado mais pessoal para revelar toda sua veia criativa.
Entre tantos grandes artistas já revelados pela gravadora, há um em especial que vem ganhando bastante destaque nos últimos meses: o italiano Ivory. Talvez você o conheça por conta de algumas faixas lançadas que receberam um artwork amarelo bem chamativo… bem, elas fazem parte de seu belíssimo álbum Feelin’, que foi lançado justamente pela Innervisions em novembro do ano passado, com 10 faixas originais. Entre elas, destacam-se “Try” e “Feelin’”, faixa-título que neste momento é a mais vendida no catálogo do Beatport da Innervisions.
Exclusivamente para a GRVE, Ivory contou que, apesar do álbum apresentar uma grande diversidade de sons, a ideia por trás foi bem simples: “eu queria trabalhar na minha própria reinterpretação da house music. Achei que seria muito estimulante e, acima de tudo, novo, pegar alguns elementos instrumentais clássicos da house music, usar samples de forma criativa, muitas vezes também do R’n’B, e retrabalhar tudo mantendo minha própria identidade sonora”.
Mas o relacionamento dele com a gravadora não começou neste LP. A sua primeira aparição no catálogo da IV foi em abril de 2020 com o single “Dreamers”, até hoje sua faixa com mais reproduções no Spotify. Ela fez parte do VA de oito faixas Dixon Presents Transmoderna, um disco que trouxe sons com muitas camadas sintéticas e um toque futurista; ali, alguns outros artistas também começariam a ganhar mais destaque além de Ivory, como Echonomist e Aera.
No ano seguinte, em novembro de 2021, Ivory entregou uma nova faixa que demonstrava todo seu ímpeto criativo. “Lost” integrou desta vez um outro VA, este já tradicional, conhecido como Secret Weapons, onde a gravadora apresenta algumas de suas IDs mais requisitadas, descrito por eles como “alguns cortes inspiradores que construíram o alicerce de longas e excessivas horas na pista, faixas-chave para criar momentos mágicos”.
Ao ser questionado sobre o início deste “relacionamento”, Ivory não escondeu: “A Innervisions sempre foi uma fonte de grande inspiração porque, para mim, representa essencialmente liberdade criativa, acho que não existe um único som que possa descrever a Innervisions. Acho muito único a sensação que as músicas lançadas querem dar, e este é um conceito menos apreensível, mas que permite abraçar mais estilos mantendo a sua própria identidade. Acredito que na música não é um determinado som que te caracteriza, mas sim a sensação que o artista deseja transmitir ao ouvinte”, destaca.
A mais recente participação de Ivory após o lançamento do seu álbum Feelin’ foi o single “Burn Through”, uma collab com Solique, novamente na compilação Secret Weapons, edição de número 15, lançada em março. Caras novas aparecem enquanto outras figuras já conhecidas abrilhantam o VA de 18 faixas, como Tal Fussman, Glowal, Denis Horvat e Alex Medina. Um recorte em vídeo foi produzido por Ivory e Solique para demonstrar um pouco de como foi o processo criativo por trás dessa track, uma maneira muito interessante de imergir mais a fundo no trabalho do produtor italiano.
Toda história tem um começo, meio e fim, mas gostaríamos mesmo que essa pudesse continuar infinitamente.

Ivory found at Innervisions the perfect environment for his creative freedom
After the success of the Feelin’ album, releasing in late 2022, he returned to release on Dixon and Amê’s label with the single “Burn Through”
In a woody space, filled with records and synthesizers, Innervisions, one of the most acclaimed underground electronic music labels to date, was born in 2005 in Berlin. Created by Steffen Berkhahn (Dixon) together with Kristian Rädle and Frank Wiedemann (Âme), the name was chosen for the belief that “all art forms, not only music, are a materialized sphere of ideas that triggers certain sensations and sensibilities“, that is, more than just releasing music, the label could be called an art gallery, where artists can express their most personal side to reveal all their creative side.
Among so many great artists already revealed by the label, there is one in particular who has been gaining a lot of attention in the last few months: the Italian Ivory. Maybe you know him because of some released tracks that received a flashy yellow artwork… well, they are part of his beautiful album Feelin’, which was released by Innervisions in November last year, with 10 original tracks. Among them are “Try” and “Feelin'”, the title track which is currently the best seller on Innervisions’ Beatport catalog.
Exclusively for GRVE, Ivory said that although the album features a great diversity of sounds, the idea behind it was quite simple: “I wanted to work on my own reinterpretation of house music. I thought it would be very exciting, and above all, to take some classic house instrumental elements, use samples creatively, often also from R’n’B, and rework them all while maintaining my own sound identity.”
But his relationship with the label did not begin with this LP. His first appearance in IV’s catalog was in April 2020 with the single “Dreamers,” to this day his track with the most plays on Spotify. It was part of the eight-track Dixon Presents Transmoderna VA, an album that brought sounds with lots of synthetic layers and a futuristic feel; there, some other artists would also start to gain more prominence besides Ivory, like Echonomist and Aera.
The following year, in November 2021, Ivory delivered a new track that demonstrated all their creative momentum. “Lost” this time integrated another VA, this one already traditional, known as Secret Weapons, where the label presents some of their most requested IDs, described by them as “some inspiring cuts that built the foundation of long and excessive hours on the track, key tracks to create magical moments.“
When asked about the beginning of this “relationship” Ivory didn’t hide: “Innervisions has always been a source of great inspiration because for me it essentially represents creative freedom, I don’t think there is a single sound that can describe Innervisions. I find very unique the feeling that the released songs give, and this is a less apprehensible concept, but it allows you to embrace more styles while maintaining your own identity. I believe that in music it is not a certain sound that characterizes you, but the feeling that the artist wants to convey to the listener,” he highlights.
Ivory’s most recent appearance after the release of his album Feelin’ was the single “Burn Through”, a collab with Solique, again on the compilation Secret Weapons, issue number 15, released in March. New faces appear while other familiar figures brighten up the 18-track VA, such as Tal Fussman, Glowal, Denis Horvat and Alex Medina. A video cut was produced by Ivory and Solique to demonstrate a bit of the creative process behind this track, a very interesting way to immerse yourself deeper into the Italian producer’s work.
Every story has a beginning, middle and end, but we really wish this one could go on endlessly.
